I would fish the Bangor ramp area. Lots of standing timber, lots of crappie are caught out of this area of the lake. Be careful of stickups, keep motor trimmed or use tm for this area. Buck Creek and Longbow area is good too.

does anyone have an info on cave run? water temps? catching any crappie? we are planning on heading down on friday for the weekend, as long as it is not raining.

Buck creek is the area to the right of beaver creek, if your map shows the river on the left, beaver creek straight ahead coming from down the lake, it is the arm on the right.. I have been catching crappie in the standing timber there for two or three weeks, it is fairly easy to find them with your depthfinder... Last saturday they were deeper, around 15 or 16 feet and the size could have been better but I did catch a fair number... If I'm up there the same day you are and you happen to be in my spot, I might just have to tie up to your boat so bring lots of baloney sandwiches and I kinda like hot chocolate too.
my dad likes to use minnows, so we will definately be using them, but i never go fishing without my trusty roadrunner tied on.
kissfan4,
How did you do on Cave Run Lake for crappie? Did you hook into any muskie?

If I can butt in... Was there today, put in at bangor, crappie fished from 11 until around 4, we caught several fish but for some reason this entire fall I have been fishing in all the wrong places because fish over 10 inches seem to be tough to come by... Most of the crappie seem to be 7 to 8 inches, can usually catch enough 9 to 10 inch fish for dinner if you need them... most of the fish we caught today were hanging around some bottom cover in 9 or 10 feet of water.
