Pastor ... you might also consider going to Cedar Creek Lake. Take some nightcrawlers, crickets, or red worms for Bluegill & Shellcracker (minnows for Crappie) ... fish in the 5-15 fow range. The Full Moon is in the middle of that week, so you may find the gills/crackers bedding. Crappie will likely be deep, and down in the standing timber.
Normally, when I fish there for Bluegill/Shellcracker ... I just put a section of nightcrawler, big enough to cover the hook, on a 1/16oz jighead & drift, keeping the bait just off the bottom (~6"-1').
Taylorsville Lake is another possibility .... and if you don't find the Bluegill beds, there, just tie on a couple of white or chartreuse 1/16oz jigs and slow troll in the 12-20ft depth range. You're likely to run into a school of White Bass or Hybrids, of varying sizes, especially if there's a lot of schooling Shad on the surface (& not a whole lot of boat traffic).
There's no launch fee for either lake !! Cedar Creek does have a website that puts out a fishing report : » Cedar Creek Lake Fishing Report ... but, I don't know of any that covers Taylorsville.
If you just want to keep him snatchin' & jerkin' at gills .... pretty much any lake would probably provide the potential. Depending on his age & experience level, I'd be of a mind that "I" wasn't going to be doing much fishing, myself ... and just be the hook baiter & hook remover. Rofl
Even Herrington Lake would be a possible place to try .... worms or crickets down against the rock cliff walls could get you some decent sized gills, and possibly even a catfish or two. I'd stay in the no wake area of Chimney Rock & Kamp Kennedy. The biggest factor against choosing Herrington is the $10 launch fee !!
