Just finished our yearly trip down there, and didn't have much luck with the crappies at all. Picked up a few here and there (mostly in about 30 fow near the main river channel) Bluegills and Catfish were biting like crazy though. Bass too, I caught more Bass by accident while crappie fishing than I ever have while actually trying to catch a bass. We were quite a bit farther north than you will be though (between the dam and Aurora) so maybe you'll do better down south. Good luck to ya.

Thanks all. I bought a bunch of Crappie Nibbles. Never used them before, however everybody raves about them. Well see how they do.

Buddy of mines daughter just got back and they had the same report. Not much activity on the Crappie. Readear and Bluegill were biting and so were Catfish. White Bass were the hottest.

Just got done with a tune up ont eh motor, cleaned the carb, replaced the points/condenser and set the gap, replaced the spark plugs. Took a bit, but got her fired up and running again. Sounded good, just need to make some adjustments to teh carb settings while on the water. Did a compression test, top piston holds at 60psi, bottom at 90psi. Think the '57 Johnson is ready for a rebuild this winter.

Tomorrow I fix some eletrical issues in the boat, go through the gear, and clean the boat. Check the trailer bearings, might even repack them, and hook up the side marker lights on the trailer.

Getting stoked. Friday night I pack the boat and truck and top off both gas tanks.

Pay close attention to the weather. If a pop-up thunderstorm decides to roll throguh it can make the lakes very dangerous if they bring high winds.

The lakes are no joke in even moderate winds. Couple that with a smaller boat and things get dicey quick.

    Good luck on the fish.
