    Default ky lake

ok, so i am starting to plan a trip to ky lake in the spring, first off when would be a good time to go down? i know the weather varies year to year but all i need is a rough estimate. second, what is a good campground? needs to have bait close by as well as a ramp. any info would be greatly appreciated.

Year to year, the last week of March and the first two weeks in April are among the best for catching the spawn. Personally I prefer to miss that on the early side rather than the late because I have better luck finding the fish then.

As to campgrounds, you need to narrow down the area a little bit. For the north end, I like Hillman Ferry in LBL. Two ramps in the campground and you can trailer to many more in LBL, but for minnows you'll have to cross the lake or drive about 8 miles to Lake City.

Check this for commercial campgrounds on the west side of the lake.

Sorry, wanting to stat towards the north end of the lake, and I was hoping for someplace that had bait on site.

I always stay at Moors Resort and Marina on Kentucky Lake I have been going here for 20+ years, this is the best location and complete resort on this part of the lake. Ranks as the number two fishing HOTSPOT next to The Sandy Area. ( IN MY OPINION) Great for large family groups. Best to book a guide trip with the Big Cahuna on the first day, One of the better Crappie Quide on the lake. You may want to pick up 2 maps from Fishing Hot Spots, Kentucky Lake-North (Kentucky Dam to KY/TN Line) Fishing Map - Fishing Hot Spots, Inc. and Kentucky Lake-Central (Blood River to Big Sandy - TN/KY) Fishing Map - Fishing Hot Spots, Inc. money well spent.

By water, travel approximately 6 miles South of Kentucky Dam. Moors Resort and Marina is located on the west shore at Mile Marker #30 at the mouth of Bear Creek.

By land, from Interstate 24, take Exit 25-A onto the Purchase Parkway. Take the first exit (#47) and turn left onto US Hwy 68. Go approximately 5 miles and turn left onto Moors Camp Hwy (formerly Hwy 963). Follow the signs to Moors Resort, about 5 miles.

Last 2 weeks of March thru first 2 weeks of April. I have a seasonal lot at Big Bear Resort and am there most of the time when off this ol'towboat. There are 2 boat ramps there, they have bait, a marina, and they are a crappie.com sponsor I believe. Kentucky Lake Big Bear Resort

i looked at moors, and it looks like that is where we might go. but i did have a few questions, i am looking at staying at the lodge, but i was wondering if i would be able to charge the boat batteries from my room? meaning, is the parking directly outside of the rooms? or will i have to rent a slip? i really dont like the idea of leaving the boat in a slip, not saying i dont trust people, but i dont feel comfortable leaving it where i cant see it.

You can run an extension cord down to the parking lot from outside the building
