Green River Lake Crappie Question
Can anybody tell me the depth of water they're catching crappie in on Green River Lake? I've got some young friends headed up that way to fish Friday and Saturday and I told them I'd see what I could find out? I haven't been up there this year, so I can't be much help to them. Thanks for any info.

I can only tell you what I did ... at Saturday's Slabfeast :
We caught 11 keeper males, in ~6ft of water, on minnows under a float & casting jigs, around fallen trees.
Water temp read 64deg @ 8AM ... & rose to 66.5deg by 1PM. We fished the same half dozen spots, back & forth down the bank we were on, for the whole 5hrs of the fishing portion of the event. We caught approx. 40fish total, during that time, with the 11 we kept being "obviously" over the 9" size limit (10-11" fish). We threw back several that touched the 9" line, or barely went over it, on my Golden Rule measuring board.
As I understand it, several others were finding them in the same general scenario ... while others were finding them suspended over much deeper water. Maybe some of the other participants will post their findings. Personally, I think they're giving it another attempt at spawning, or finishing spawning, since it seemed that they were being caught in so many different depths & all, that they couldn't have all been on the same page.

We caught 70 keepers in anywhere from 13 feet of water to 3 feet of water fishing with a white 1/16 oz jig with the curly powerbait white grub 2" long. If you can find some cover you will find the fish no problem. We caught 20 keepers of one stump in 3 feet of water. Good luck and let us know how they do.
