    Default Residents and Non-Residents

This weekend has shown me many things, and it was worth some of the hassles but my blood pressure got all jacked up this morning.
Saturday afternoon I arrive at the ramp directly from work, and a Marshall County idiot tells me they both limited out and they were heading out. He proceeds to open his mouth, explain that he read the regulations, and the crappie limit was 30 per person, and they had their 60 fish! I politely told him he was wrong, that the limit was 20 for ky and Barkley lakes, and 30 anywhere else in the state. He then said @uck off, said I was just jealous and walked off.
This morning 2 IL morons pulled up the brush piles I was headed to, anchored off and proceed to throw bobbers in every direction. Now, this was a distance of about 2 boat links, and I was laying in the floor working on a electrical issue. I fished the area for about 30 minutes, caught a few fish, buzzed their bobbers spread several times, and went on to my next spot.
Then I had loaded up after catching my limit this morning, and was following a IN vehicle in the lot, and he proceeds to rip the tail light off of another boat trailer with his trailer. He did leave his information but I think the only reason he did was because I saw everything happen. Body language says a lot!!!!!!!

If you have heard of the comedian Jeff Dunham and his buddy "Walter", they have a skit that reflects my true feelings for Non-Residents. Walter is a greeter at Wal-Mart and says, "Hello, welcome to Wal-Mart (Kentucky). Pay for your **** and get the hell out!!!!!!!!!

And for our local idiots, not much we can do. He got lucky, I never saw is plate because i have Gary Clark and Dunker on speed dial.

Had another local tell me about catching several limits each day for several days this week. Then they'll bitch about no fish in the lake in the future.

No, not everyone is perfect. If someone accidently ends up with 21 instead of 20 so be it. BUT 52???? That's a thief. Something get under your skin?

Don't forget to mention the boneheads that park in front of the ramp and get the boat ready. You all have seen this i'm sure / and then they get mad if you ask them to move. They say things like "The lakes not going anyware what's the rush"
Those are the same guys that blast by at 60mph.

That happened this afternoon as I was taking out. A guy with another bass boat parked sideways across the top of the ramp and started prepping his rig for launch while an older gentleman was already lined up to launch and was just doing a final check before he got the tires wet. The dummy at the top of the ramp cut off the older guy to launch his boat and then had the balls to ask me if I did any good as I was patiently waiting for him to move his truck so I could pull my boat out. It isn't even recreational boating season yet and the idiots are already shwing up at the ramps. It's going to be a long year...

    Hi Biggerbear,

I had the same thing happen on the state ramp on Jonathan Creek a few years back. I pulled into the parking lot and came to a stand still. There were ten boats or more lined up. A few of us walked down to the ramp to see if there was a problem. The ramp was taken up with trucks and boats from Ohio. They were putting their rods, minnow buckets, life jackets, etc. into the boats. I couldn't believe it. I was pre-fishing the Jonathan area for a group I was guiding for the next day up that way and my time was limited. I came in at noon to load and head home. They had their boats tied up around the old dock that use to be there. They were in the parking lot having a picnic. I threw a rope up on the rocks and tried to step off on the slick rocks, slipped, and fell back in the water. I was not happy to say the least.

They set there with their heads down and wouldn't look at me when I went for my truck. All the way home I was cussing the whole State of Ohio. I didn't care if i ever saw an Ohio truck, boat, or trailer again. But I was dead wrong. It wasn't Ohio or the Ohio fishermens fault. These guys were just inconsiderate jerks. I am sure they were the same way to the guys who fish in Ohio as well. I have had bad experiences with people from most every state around as well as Kentucky and Tennessee. Jerks are eveywhere. They run in packs! Rofl But I have also been broke down and had people from Illinios or Indiana stop to help just like those from Kentucky or Tennessee would. I often do weekend lectures at Bass Pro Shops in the winter and I have met some of the nicest people from their location in Cincinnati.

I think it is unfair to point the finger at any state and all its fishermen. We can kid each other for sure. But as a guide I have found people from Missouri, Illinois (and my Polish buddies from Chicago LOL), Indiana, Ohio, Tennessee, Wisconsin, etc. to be good people who simply want to enjoy what we have, spend some money, and leave with good memories. I have always done my best to see thishappens. It can be frustrating when tournament fishermen zip in and out of bays on weekends. And I have gotten a little POed when someone sees my marker on a waypoint and swopes in on me like an A-10 attacking an Iraqi tank to mark it. They fly by waving and I hear a "BEEP" from their GPS. But as tough as the local economy is the lakes region depends on tourism and fishermen. We are blessed to have the quality fishery that attracts them. There are other places for them to consider. I know this time of year can be tough. Since the lakes are still low and some private ramps can't be used the local state ramps are packed even on week days. By 8 a.m. to launch at Wildcat you have to park half way to Murray! I have seen two arguements this week over being cut off at the ramp. Sure, lets get in a fist fight because I don't want to wait another five minutes to load. RIDICULOUS!

As a guide I do fishing reports for the two lakes area web sites and am covering these issues this week. So far this week I have been cut off at the ramp, seen the dock blocked by people eating at their vehicle, cars parked in the spots designed for trucks with trailers, people leaving their headlights on while parked on the ramp blinding the people backing in, speeding in the idle zone around the ramp about throwing people off the dock, etc. But you know what? These people are jerks, local or not. They probably kick puppies, stomp on flowers, and shoot at songbirds with BB Guns!

What's wrong with shooting songbirds? Mockingbirds make great targets. I don't bother the rest.

I know what you guys are saying about the jerks but keep in mind there are as many locals as OOSERs. We just tend to overlook many of them because we know the gene-pool they hatched from.

    Well said "Old Guide"
I get a chance to fish Ky Lake for just 4 days every year. When I'm there I'm respectful, courteous and hopefully helpful if needed. I choose to spend my vacation money in Ky Lake because for the most part it's a great place to visit and most of the people I run into are friendly. When there I rarely keep any crappie under 11" and it's even more rare to actually keep a full limit. I'm sure the locals put more pressure on the fish in a month than most non-residents do in a year.

People loose track of just how good they have it when they have access to such a great fishery. Here in SW Ohio we only have access to a few lakes with the biggest being around 2,500 acres and N Ky has even less. There are plenty of guys from N Ky fishing these heavily pressured Ohio lakes because quite simply there isn't much water over there. I sure wish we had something like Ky Lake in our back yard.

I notice how the OP talks about how bad everyone else is and then described how he "buzzed their bobbers spread several times". I guess it's okay for him to be a jerk. Some people wake up mad, spend all day looking for more reasons to be mad, get on the internet and try to make other people mad, then go to bed mad. All to start another day....being mad. I'm willing to bet he spends a considerable amount of time just checking this thread just to see how many people he made mad.
