I fish both. Weiss early - Feb/Mar and KY Lake Mar/Apr. I have a hard time deciding which is best. Personnaly if you like Weiss I think you will like KY Lake. Both are great crappie lakes. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Me and my dad try to take one good crappie fishing trip every spring, we live in the Eastern part of the state and they lake are not up to par with other lakes in Western Ky and in the south. We usually go to Weiss, but it has not been all that great the last couple of years. I was wanting some personal opinions from some people who have fished Kentucky Lake and Weiss. Which do you guys think would be a better 4 trip? Never been to LBL but would love to try. Thanks for the input.

IMHO - given equal conditions (good weather/water conditions/etc) I believe it's more a matter of how you like to fish, or are set up to fish, that decides your choice between the two.
If you're a long line troller, and a dock shooter .... Weiss
If you're a spider rigger, and a bank caster or vertical jigger (or brush dipper) .... Ky/Barkley
"When" you go is going to be as important as "where" you go ... as both bodies of water are excellent choices, but can be quickly negated by bad weather conditions. I'd keep an eye on both, watch the trends in the number of good reports & catch rates, as well as the prevailing weather conditions ... then choose, even if it's at the last minute, which lake to try.

Thanks fellas, weare playing it by ear but probably leaving in the morning. Seems like both are really getting ready to turn on. I agree from what I know about Weiss and the reputation of Kentucky that they are both great, I guess making this being a hard choice is a good thing. Myself bein there is what matters, however my dad is in his sixties, kind of negative, impatient, and wants to catch fish. Makes me feel some pressure to have a productive fish catching trip, lol
