The ones running that ship is a joke, Each time they run the upper section of Ky lake below Pickwick dam. You would think a kid is running the ship. Not a pilot that knows what they are doing. A Tow boat with 15 barges can make these swings, but this ship is almost funny to see how they navigate the river here.

Plus if they were doing there job, theres no way they would have hit the wrong section. With our without lights, todays electronics should have taken care of these issues. But bet it turns out to be like a Tug boat here years ago that hit a Point. There was a deck hand at the handle.

I hope they replace that bridge, and make it 4 lanes.

With the bridge being out, it makes it a much longer trip, for me to get to LBL.
I live 10 miles from the 160,000 acre Kentucky Lake, and the 57,000 acre Barkley Lake is within 25 miles of my house. I live 10 miles from 220,000 acres of Water.

I live in an Outdoor Paradise

IMO we'll never know the truth about what happened. Even my $100 Navionics charts show the main and secondary channel buoys, with the electronics that are on that ship there is no excuse for what happened. Light, no light it doesn't matter, that ship is not supposed to be in the secondary channel.

No matter how this turns out the tax payers will be the losers.

I agree with replacing the dinosar bridge.
But in the interm for a quick fix.
    1. Order the steel.
    2. Contract Hall Contracting(the crew that fixed the Sherman Minton bridge in Louisville)
    3. GET ER DUN so everyone in that area can get back to normal drives.

Side Note-- Murray State looking good, finally got Dickie V down there, now he has experienced more of Kentucky. Show him the bridge maybe he can get someone fired up!!

    Help me out here,
was this the first time this vessel or its crew passed under this bridge
I have seen fog literally thick as pea soup, how do they navigate then
do these vessels not have at least some kind of GPS, radar or something
bottom line, was navagational protocol being followed
Whiskers, you are the river man, I am not trying to be a smart a**, was everyone asleep or what

I have to say I do have sympathy for all those people that commuted that bridge to work etc. on a daily basis. This is not only a big inconvenience its also a big economic liability for them and their families. I wonder how a law ever got written that you can only be liable for the value of the ship and the cargo. That would be like saying your only liable for the amount of value your car is worth if you had an accident driving.
