Last Saturday wife and I went and put in at Axtel. Got the boat out to shake the cobwebs off. Wind was ruff!!! Pushed my Pro Crappie 175 around too much so we headed for a bluff blocking the wind where we could anchor around some brush. Caught a bunch of Bluegill in 5-9 ft of water. The sun was great and the fish were active for a while so we had fun. ended up with 21 keeper gills and threw back 10-15, a couple small bass under length and no Crappie. Good luck and please let us know how it went. I hope to be on the water this weekend down there too. Water is about normal color and still felt cold, but I am guessing around 55-58 by now.

i'm going to be out there most of the weekend and monday and tuesday. I'll be in a blue and silver aroglass phantom. It has a kentucky wildcat decal on the back. Will say hi if we see ya out there. My wife and i normally fish the northfork area, but might give peter cave a try on one of the trips. Will definitely give a report

They had the North Ramp closed last Saturday looked like they were doing Construction above the entrance to the ramp. Anyone know what they are working on?

My girlfriend and i went out sunday and fought the wind. We caught 20 to 22 keepers and alot of short fish. Fish were caught in 9 fow about 4 feet deep on minnows. Ran out of minnows due to half of them dying on us and starting catching them casting roadrunners and curly tail jigs. Caught almost as many blacks as whites. We also got a nice 5lb channel cat to go with the crappie. I don't know if my depth finder is malfuntioning or not but it read 61 at 9:00 a.m. and read up to 67 degrees in some parts. We were fishing in tules creek. I don't know what rough looks like at summer pool but the daily lake report said it was right at summer pool.

Kids and I stopped there last Friday on the way back from KY Lake and caught more fish on Rough than 3 days at the big lake. Feel like we could have done better but like everyone else wind was blowing us all over the place. Gonna try again Sat and Sun if it's not raining.

We fished on Saturday and caught a few short fish scattered around and 1/2 dozen bluegills and a couple short kentuckys. Not a big fish fry by any means!LOL
But we had a little fun sun and WWWWWind! Gonna rain this weekend almost for sure, but I bet they will be spawning!

    Good luck all!

Here's a pic from this past sundays outing. Could have done alot better, but the wind was killing us. When my girlfriend opts for casting jigs and is being productive at it, the fishing is definitely good. Wasted some off days and didn't go due to the weather and talked myself out of the trips. The lake level is currently about 10 feet over summer pool. They haven't dropped any water recently, but if they start dropping it real fast, might mess the spawn up. The water has warmed up really fast, but were fishing in a creek where its warmer. The fish that had egg sacs were still firm, but yeah, the spawn is on. Caught the catfish in a different spot right off the bank and it was loaded with eggs. Water temp in that area was 67. Dying to get back out there, but work and the crazy weather is messing everything up. And yes, this weekend doesn't look good.
