    Default Little info please

Headed down this weekend to fish. Probably go to blood river or johnathan creek. Those are the only two places I really know of. Anyhow we like to cork fish. Is anyone getting them in shallower water yet? Like boat docks and stake beds or are they still deep. Any info would be appreciated. I will fish deep if I have too but would rather jig some shallow structure. Thanks Dusty

Up to this point, you can't tell from one day to the next what they are doing or where they are going to be. A good day is followed by an awful day. At least, from what I understand. I haven't seen a good day and feel fortunate for what I caught on the days that I caught them after talking to others.

They are a little scattered depending on the bay you are fishing. The males are starting to explore the shallower water. The most consistant bite I have found for big fish is 11' to 13' deep in 13' to 15' of water. Had a REAL good day today with several 15+" fish. They are on the move though. Many of the black males we had had just come out of deep water. White as cotton till the sun hit them fo awhile.

Good luck! I know our timing was way off... We fished march 28th and 29th in blood river, two days of a 5 day trip and came home the second day fishing was so bad! Two crappie in two days... On the bright side we didnt get skunked, but we did get schooled! It was like fishing lake erie, high winds, white caps, cold and rainy. And big floating packs of boats spider rigging and drift fishing. I know its only going to get better!

Wiskers that's a good mess of fish considering today's conditions, glad you all got on them. Harrison and I are heading down tomorrow to get blown off the lake. It's his springbreak and the only opportunity we'll have to go. Guess we'll try pulling jigs with the wind at our back. Would feel better about it if the water was a little warmer. The winds this spring have been ridiculous! I've given up on trying to plan a trip when they are slack. We're going to fish tomorrow and Thursday and hope for the best. If nothing else just have a good time being on the water.
