I'll be down tonight through Sunday fishing north end of Barkley and Kentucky. Let me know if u want to meet up and share tips. I will also be down next Saturday afternoon and Sunday. I haven't caught as many as most guys on here, but I was a newbie to the lakes the last few years, and know it is difficult to get on the Slabs.

Thank you for your offer. Where do you launch? do you go over to ky lake or stay in barkley. we are staying in my sisters place in kuttawa, they are not fisherman so little help from them. She said there were 3 launch sights within 2 miles of there house. If you go to ky lake do you boat over thru the canal or drive over and launch in ky lake? was down there about 10 years ago and boated through but did not fish, don't remember much about the lake there. any help will be appreciated. Thanks and good luck this week end. Dick

I usually launch at Buzzard Rock or Mineral Mounds if I'm fishing Barkley. It's a good boat ride from Barkley, through the canal, and over to Kentucky Lake to Little or Big Bear Bay. So, if you're wanting to fish KY Lake, I'd recommend launching over at Moors or Kentucky Dam Marina. There are plenty of bays to fish for bass on Barkley. But, if you want to chase crappie first, I'd recommend spending the day on KY. The guys here all say KY is better for crappie.

For bass, try a Baby Brush Hog Carolina rigged in Watermelon Red. Had some for sale at The Cabin Shop in Kuttawa this past weekend. I'll be down again next Saturday if you're still in town. Hope this helps.

Just got back from 6 days at barkley, the crappie fishing was a bust but the bass fishing was goog allthought no really big fish biggest less than 4 lbs. we did launch in buzzard bay, fished there. davenport and disnumbers mostly, went to kentucky dam village and launched on tuesday morning the lake was rolling to much to go very far so we fished the bay there that morning than went back to barkley that afternoon. Talked to a lot of fisherman and even the locals were not on the crappie and i understand that the bass tournment weights that week end were down. May have gone down a week to early but the way they were dropping the lake didn't help much either. again thank you for your info. .
