Looks like April 16th is the current favorite, but just barely.
If April 30th is the Crappie USA tourney ... that might put that date into questionable status. (does anyone know where it launches out of ?? ... if it's Holmes Bend, then we'll cross that date off)
I wouldn't be able to make it then, anyway, as I'll be in Tenn that weekend. But, if that date should happen to be the chosen one, my absence would not need be a factor. We would just need someone to contact Holmes Bend & reserve the picnic pavillion.
Reading the Holmes Bend website ... it looks like it's "closed" until April 14th. If that's true ... would that preclude us from using the ramp/pavillion/fish cleaning station, should our date be before then ??? Anyone know ??

I think it's just the campground is closed till then.
crappie usa is out of holmes bend on the 30th.
Take a kid fishing
Holmes Bends ramp and fish cleaning station is open year round. You can rent the pavillion and cabins year round. There is always someone around the marina but they may not be fully stocked until the
season kicks in. I will not now if i can make it until around the first of April. With all this rain they keep rescheduling our crappie tourneys. Right now the water is up to the second parking lot. Good luck to all.
Would this be a open or club tourny, whats the general rules ?? Live up near Frankfort, might be intrested if its a open tourny
My boat maybe old, but shes still... FAST !!
Ron ... it's open to Crappie.com members/fishing partners. You don't even have to be a "KY resident" member :p
It's not really a "tourney" ... more of a get together, meet & greet - fish & eat, kinda deal. Not everyone has to be a Crappie.com member to attend (ie spouse, kids, fishing bud) ... but, there needs to be a site member in your group.
Basically what we do:
Pick a lake/date/launch ramp ... meet & greet at launch ramp parking lot ... launch boats & go fish ... come in at set time & clean the catch ... cook the food ... set the "buffet" up & chow down ... have good food & fellowship ... clean up & head out.
Attending members volunteer to bring the various items needed to cook/serve the meal. If a member fronts the money to rent the pavillion, donations are collected to reimburse that member. I believe there's a launch fee at Holmes Bend, but I don't know what it is(probably $3-$5).
This is how it went down, last year : http://www.crappie.com/crappie/kentu...gether-12.html
