    Default Carnico lake

Heading to Carnico tomorrow in the boat. Anybody have any advice. I figure it is about the clearest water around us.

I would start by working all the major points that have coontail on em( i put brush on most of them) and maybe check the mouths of coves and work your way to the back. If you watch your fish finder you will see the schools of crappie, cuz theres no shad in the lake the crappie look like big school of bait there. If you dont find them in those spots work some deeper water right down the middle of the channels and out from the dam and bank across lake from beach. BTW, jus for fun, look on the window at the pics at ramp building at that big crappie, dont see many like that anywhere. Good luck and let us know how ya do. I always like double 1/32 tubes casted or I spider rig but the little fish will have you workin OT.

If the Cats weren't playing, I'd be up there also. Let us know how you did.

I didn't end up going. Didn't feel like fighting the wind. Went to the river and caught 2 creek chubs. Then later this afternoon I took my wife and little girl to the farm pond. I caught 1 bass between 4 and 5 lbs. and had another one get off.

you made the right call, time with the family is time well spent, id trade those 7 inch crappie to see my daughter with a 5 lber any day!! I forgot to mention that the wind is horrible on carnico, anything over 10 mph makes is rough in smaller boat so you did well.

Went bass fishing with some buddies on Carnico Saturday.. The wind was unreal, but ended up with 4 largemouth that weighed 12.4lbs. Really good considering the water was 45 degrees and muddy. First time I'd been on the lake in years.. May go back crappie fishing after seeing your post.
