Thread: Green River/Lake Cumberland

Thanks for the help fellas. I plan on giving it a try regardless. I'm just looking for an early catch or two....sure beats sitting in the house and it's way too wet for golf!

Do you think I should try to fish in muddier water or water with less color? I've always heard that murky water holds heat longer and will hold more fish in the winter/late winter. Thoughts on that idea guys?

Cuzzin, where did you see those fellas at? In the big flats north of Holmes Bend?

... all the years I fished GRL, I stayed at the state campground & fished around the island & back up into Robinson Cr a little ways. Never really considered even going down there until late April. :D

As with alot of our lakes, the river end (headwaters) usually starts earlier ... and things progress towards the dam end, as the days/weeks go by. I progressed, over the years, from dragging minners around the mid range depths (8-12ft) ... to throwing Roadrunners & tube jigs, to the banks & flats. Hands Clapping (that upped my success rate by about 300% )

Last year, at the get together, we fished HB area (mid April) ... and caught plenty of fish. Y'all may just be pushing things :p ... but, I can understand that. What with us being snowed/iced in for so long ... then some halfway decent weather comes along --- hey, we want to get out & get it on Thumbs Up

Just rest assured .... there's still plenty of time to get in on the GRL fishing, and it should only get better, in the weeks to come !! We just need for the water temps to rise a little more.
