I use a #1 bronze aberdeen regular old crappie hook and I hook the minnow thru the eyes. No such thing as a stupid fishing question unless you start asking for GPS coordinates!LOL

I usually hook them thru the tail or thru the lips. Some times the minnow will get off when hooking thru the lips because of the tenderness of the lips but if you get enough of the flesh on the hook, it works fine...! Also, thru the lips doesn't injure the minnow as much as thru the back or tail.
But I don't think it really matters to the fish. Also, a minnow hooked thru the lips looks more natural when you are moving the boat, but there again, I don't think it really matters to the fish. I don't think the fish are down there wondering why the minnow is moving backwards...!

C&C rig. Tie my own. Start with 3way swivel, 1 leg 18 to 20 in line, slide 1/2 oz weight then tie swivel tie 8 or 9 in leader to that with #1 red aberdean hook. to 3way tie 8in leader with same hook. hook minnow through lips. I have never used Jigs but a lot of fellows do.What I do do at times is dress my hooks with Bo or dear hair like a jig. seems to work better at times for me. Also I tie a small duolock snape on main line.Use a piece of pipe insulation or pool noodle to wrap rigs on. that way you can tie up several rigs with different hooks, jigs and weights and makes changing a snap on water and reduces chances of tangles when transporting.

How in the world did you pick that name for those? Your Dad would jump out of his seat just at the mention of a snake! ( I sure do miss him!)
