    Default Nolin

anybody been to Nolin in the last 2 weeks ?
Just curious, I keep hearing they are catching some good fish right on the bank using jigs and a bobber.
I always tend to fish off shore and would never know if that was working.

Colayn, you heard right. Went yesterday and caught 36 in about 2 hrs. They were close to the bank on cover. Fished about 70 yard streach, they were stacked in there. I will be back tommorrow.

    river-rat,, Thats great
    Do they have any size?
I kinda give up fishing Nolin this year because so many small fish, there is a lot of seed in the lake

I have never fished Nolin and do not know anything much about the lake. How likely is it that a newbie to Nolin could locate and catch some fish? I am not asking for your honey hole just general info or suggestions if you want to provide it. Send me a PM if you like. Thanks for any info.

Olgrey, the times I have fished for crappie on Nolin in the winter I could always count on finding fish on the main channel, outside bends.
I like to cast jigs, so you have to be sure you are getting deep enough (sonar) and slow, slow, slow.
Play with colors and size, it makes a big difference.

Good point, To be safe put in at Wax or Moutardier.
I forgot to mention be careful it can be dangerous this time of year. They drop the lake 25 ft in winter and it is almost there.
If you put in at Wax start by going up river and fishing small pockets, eddys and outside bends on the channel. You will catch fish.

    Good luck

colayn is correct about being careful. Went sunday, water is very low. If you put in at Wax take your time.

Fished Nolin lake today and it was ice.... I couldn't believe it and also no one could even get the first bite. The water temp was 32 and below and the water level was probably the lowest I have seen it in awhile. Anyone else get out today?
