    Default Rough 11/20

Curious how the crappie bite has been at Rough. I normally don't fish there but going there with a buddy this morning.
I remember in years past this time in the fall has been good on that lake.

    Huffy, those are salamander eggs.
We didn't do to well yesterday. I am not familar with that lake so it might have just been me.

    Talking Guys ...

I know those weren't Crappie eggs :D... and I doubt they were Salamander eggs .

If they looked like this : Google Image Result for http://villageoffruitport.com/images/Sewer%20&%20Pollution/Bryozoan.jpg then they were Bryozoan colonies. The good thing about seeing them, is that they only tend to grow in water that's in good shape

    Really???
I've seen those on Taylorsville and that lake is suppose to be the most polluted
    in the state.

I don't think Taylorsville Lake is any more polluted than any other lake in the state ... and I've yet to read any technical articles (on water quality) that supports it being so. And, there's no "Fish Consumption Advisory" against the Crappie in Taylorsville.

As far as Bryozoan colonies being a "water quality" indicator ---> Bryozoans

Thanks CP, that is exactly what I seen. See them on Rough, Nolin and Green
Headed to Green now (on vac) Looks like I will have to tie myself to the boat due to wind

hey colayn, sorry for the late response. Fished Rough on Friday the 19th. Must have caught a hundred dinks. Did manage to get my limit by the end of the day.
