Here are some pics of this weeks fishing trips to Smithland Pool on the Ohio River. The first trip I took my son and we fished for a while then we had a cookout on the bank. The next trip I went by myself and ended up with a nice mess of crappie from 9.5 to 13.5 inches. We used emerald shiners to catch the crappie. The shiners were captured with a 5 ft cast net with a 1/4 inch mesh. The water was 60 -65 degrees and stained. There is a lot of bait in the creeks right now and the fishing is starting to improve.
