    Default Licking River

I was reading in another site and it was talking about wade fishing in the licking and someone posted a reply reguarding a sewage discharge in the river around Rowan County. Has anybody heard anything reguarding this, I am concerned if this is true or not because if it is there could be a big fish kill?

    Default It is true...

    EZGO,
They have been dumping raw sewage in the river for about a month, in the main river. It might be a good idea not to wade or fish for a while. There was a good post on the Fishing board on the KentuckyHunting.com website about the spill, it took 2 weeks for the EPA to respond on complaints. Here is the link: Licking River Fecal matter alert

Was there any warning given to us down here and also I was wading it last week. This stinks another good fishery down the tubes and also all of the land owners down the river should sue these people and I hope the game and fish get in on this and fine them for our losses as a state. This why we pay for a fishing permit is to use our waterways. I sound harsh but I think someone should be held accountable for this.

Well I think I found some good news for us down here. I was fishing jolly Sat, and I talked to Jim Thaxton and he said he did a water count or check on the main where I wade and he said the water was at 90%, as I asked if that was good he said anything under 200% is good, so if this is true that is good news for us down here. As for jolly I got out at 8 in the morning and fished in the wind and sprinkles that was going on and only managed a small bass off of a pink hair jig, water temp was a steady 83 degrees by the graph.

    Default Good News?

    EZGO,
Jim Thaxton, is he the owner of Thaxton's canoe livery on the river? I have met him and talked to him a few times when they had their place down in Falmouth on the South fork. That is good news if what he said is accurate. I was planning on fishing the main later in the week, instead I think i will hit EFL thursday for some dink crappie. Thanks for the info. Good to hear a local report.

yea he is the owner of the canoe place. I forgot to add that he trailers a big pink boat for a rowing club that can fit and I am guessing around 10 people rowing, these ladies and a few men are practiceing for a race they are going to hold at jolly on sept 11, and the ramp will be closed that day, they are having a fund raiser for brest cancer, but it is open to the public to watch is what the director said.
