    Default Crappie Pattern in Summer

Is it possible to catch a good mess of crappie this time of year around the KY lake area? If so please tell me how they bite and the depth to target. My brother is coming down from Alabama and we are going fishing this Saturday. Just want him to show him a good time.

It can be pretty hard to catch Crappie this time of year on the lake.

If I were you I would try to fish underwater ledges, and humps.

You may be able to locate Crappie near underwater structure.

Have a good time, and if the Crappie don't bite then try fishing for bluegill, or redear, or catfish they are fairly easy to catch this time of year.
I live 10 miles from the 160,000 acre Kentucky Lake, and the 57,000 acre Barkley Lake is within 25 miles of my house. I live 10 miles from 220,000 acres of Water.

    Cool

While I was home I was catch'm Blacks in 14' to 16' of water in the mouths of the bays, before the water temps jumped up. Right now your best bet is to go out on the main river channel and where the old creeks run into the channel and fish 12' to 25' deep till you find them. Early in the morning and late in the day the fish will be higher. You might also try some night fishing on the ledges around brush. Baitfish will be the key though. find the bait & the crappie will be close. Trolling the ledges with 300 series Bandits is also good this time of year. You'll catch everything.

    Good luck.
