John, I'd never killed a double bearded bird either, until a couple years ago. Now it's occurring a lot more often. My son shot a nice one in the fall that had two beards.

I'm glad we got on those two when we did. Birds aren't really acting right. Not responding to calls, and there still are a lot of birds flocked up. A lot of Toms are still grouped up, I'm talking anywhere from 5 to 8 longbeards. I've witnessed this first hand and have several hunting buddies who are seeing the same thing. Kind of unusual for this time of year.

Good luck hunting, hope you bag a big one.

Good job John! congrats on a fine bird. The terrain looks a lot more hilly there than over here in the flat lands. Lol!

Congrats, Great looking birds!!! I agree some of the best meals available!

I have been out 4 times this week with no luck so far. Birds have been very quiet in my area. Only had birds gobbling 1 morning and thought I had a sealed deal when two gobblers closed the distance from 200 yards to 75 within 15 minutes cutting me off with double gobbles just to hold up. That is why they call it hunting. I can't complain to much though I did manage to bag a few birds earlier this year out of state. I will going back after them next week once this front rolls through.

    Smile Lots of gobbling!!

Turkey season has bee great in this part of the woods. Plenty of gobbling as there are a bunch of two year olds. Got a nice one Monday. 11 inch bears and 1 1/4 spurs. Came in on a rope. Have called in 13 birds this week.
