Default If you see this boat......

SPEED PAST EM!! I'm sitting in 15 feet of water on a point. I have been casting it for 45 minutes listening to music and enjoying the sun. Caught about 35 bass...nothing very big. Around to my right I see a boat coming into view. I say, Hey guys, can you go around cuz your going over the hump I'm fishing. They both looked at me like I was nuts! The driver just slowly trolled between my boat and shore, which was about 70 foot. So I yelled to them thanks and now here is the booty brothers from Indiana. They are fishing in Big Bear.....feel free to speed past them and say HI from BBD! My Chicago background wanted to fire up the big motor but guess what...I LIVE HERE!!!!! Beats them visiting!!!

So far this year I have heard a lot of bad stories about out of state fisherman on KY Lake.

I agree with you that living in this area is great.

I really think a lot of people who have grown up here, don't realize just how good of an area this is.

When I lived on the Illinois/Indiana border. I fished on a small 500 acre private lake.

The nearest lake of any size was a 2 hour drive away.

The largest Lake in Indiana is only 10,750 acres. And I believe the largest in Illinois is only around 25,000 acres.

Kentucky Lake is 160,000 acres, and Barkely is over 50,000 acres.

Kentucky Lake by itself, is larger than every lake in Indiana combined.

Another benefit of this area is that there is over 300,000 acres of public hunting land in the Kentucky/ Barkely lake area.
I live 10 miles from the 160,000 acre Kentucky Lake, and the 57,000 acre Barkley Lake is within 25 miles of my house. I live 10 miles from 220,000 acres of Water.

I live in an Outdoor Paradise

Sunday I was coming to Buckhorn dock to load. There was a boat tied up at dock, I got my bumpers out and ropes tied to cleats. I was waiting for boat to leave, gave him plenty of room. As he was leaving a water lice from IL cut in front of me and pulled up to dock. I decided to take the high road and bite my tongue.

Sure are some rude clueless people out there.

I Wouldnt Point The Finger At Out Of Staters Only... We Got Rocked By Five Bass Boats Coming Into A No Wake And Probably Blew By The Buoy By 200 Yards Then Shut It Down Quick.. Rocked Our World Each Time.... They Were All From Kentucky Fishing A Bass Tourney In Jonathan Last Saturday.... Trust Me I Know There Are Idiots From Illinois, But There Are Idiots From Every State And I Just Dont See How Anyone Cannot Be Courteous.. Your Supposed To Be Relaxing On The Water..... I Still Laugh At My Old Man.... We Were At Reelfoot

Sorry Bout The End.. The Two Year Hit The Keyboard And Entered It For Me... Continuing.. We Were Fishing At Reelfoot A Few Years Ago... My Old Man Was In His Boat And I Was In Mine With A Friend About 150 Yards Away... We Were The Only Two Boats In This General Area... Here Comes Two Old Timers From Tennessee.. Came Right At My Old Man And Dropper Anchor About 15 Yards Away And Started.... He Stood Up And Whipped Out The Winky And Let It Flow In Their General Direction... I Can Still Remember The Face On My Friend And The Old Timers... Man We Still Laugh About It And That General Area Is Now Called Big Peters Pads...... Anyway We Are Always Courtesy And Love To Shoot The Breeze With Anyone.... Some People Just Look Mad When They Are Fishing, If You Arent Catching Something Oh Well Still A Good Time...

Not pointing out any state or type......except for the type that does stuff like this. I could have banged my 3/4 ounce carolina rig off his boat or in it...but I'm not like that. For 3:30 in the afternoon he watched me catch ALOT of fish while I saw them pull in a couple dinks. Not my fault. 160,000 acres of water and they mess up a 30x30 spot...go figure....hope they have fun on the long haul back home. Indiana sucks by the way.

ISP is right about out of staters not being the only culprits. There are plenty of them right here. Another kind that gets me are the ones thar fish off the docks. I came in yesterday and a woman was fishing on the dock and acted like I was the villain when I came in and tied up so I could load.

Wish there was a lot more common sense and courtesy in the world.

    BBD,

I ran over that hump about a week and a half ago spider rigging, and had 4 keeper largemouth hit at the same time! I managed to boat three of them.

I was not to far away from you longlining. I couldn't believe the people who don't know what safe boating rules are. I had boats from all states run past me withing 15 to 20 yards and look at as if this is my part of the lake. Had one man watching me catch some nice crappie and he finally motored up and dropped right behind me and started fishing. I don't think he knew what he was doing, he didn't catch anything. I just moved to another area. If you plan to fish the bank at KY, plan on having someone move within 15' of you if you start catching fish.

I know that people want to fish. But, they don't know how to find fish, so they look for other's to find them and then they will move in and try to catch a few. Sorry if the wind makes them drift over your hole. Free lake.

I will be back on KY - Big Bear area next Tuesday. Probally have lunch at Moores around 12:00. Join me if you can.

I am in my 19ft Carolina Skiff (white).
