    Default Weekend Trip at Weiss

We took our annual trip to Weiss this weekend. It was a strange trip. We caught a pretty good amount of fish but I guessed Saturday would have been perfect and it started out that way but once the sun got up high with no wind at all, they simply shut down. We didn't even think we would get on the water today because of storms but got to fish three hours. We had 41 in the boat in that time while my step son caught his first 2lb 1 ounce crappie. We would have got our limits for sure but the wind started blowing around 20 mph and that ended the day. Here are a couple pics.

    Question Hey, Jigboy ...

Did you use a guide, or just use JR's facilities. I know the Green bro's that guide out of JR's ... they're both real "characters" :p

Did you get wind of the "incident" that happened there ?? (seen over on the ALA forum where Jason & his bro got into it - supposedly the brother attacked Jason with a baseball bat, & Jason shot him in retaliation/self defense) It could be trouble for JR's Marina, if this incident results in Jason doing time or having to sell out.

Anyway ... nice fish !! And, yeah ... it can get a little screwy down there :p (been there, done that :D )

We almost always use Mark Collins Guide Service. With a bigger group we would use Jason Tucker also. Yes, it was very evident that something had happened. We noticed Friday night before we knew anything that there were not as many people there. We found out Saturday about the shooting. Jason was around and you could see the mark across his head where he had been hit. The rumor is that bills arn't being paid and the two brothers are fighting a lot. Everything went down around 7:00am right when everyone is standing around having breakfast so I am sure there were a lot of witnesses. The story as we heard it is Kurt showed up and Jason shot him in the face with mace. Then Kurt got the bat and all went to hell real quickly. I have no clue what really happened but I would guess the business is going to suffer. It just isn't the same since JR died. Regardless of this incident, it appears from someone who goes down once or twice a year that Jsaon needs to worry about running the business and not worry about bass tournaments. I always wondered if he would settle down on the fishing once he owned the place and it appears he is on the water in tournaments or guiding most of the time.
