I am coming from the Lexington area and don't know my way around Ky Lake very well.....could someone possibly give general directions to Buckhorn Bay Park on big bear??? and what is the best way to fish for crappie in this area??? drifting? tie up? etc.... any suggestions will be greatly appreciated....am hoping to come the weekend of the 26th and 27th....and if successful in any way will be coming regularly and hope to have lots of stories to share.............thanks
Pull up Mapquest.com & punch in the "from & to" info ... that'll give you directions. (most of your ride will be on the Bluegrass Parkway) It'll be about a 4hr drive +/-
Here, this is what I'm talking about : Driving Directions from Lexington, Kentucky to Benton, Kentucky
Can't really tell ya what's the best way to fish that area ... but, I'd bet it would depend on the weather & water level/conditions. Your best bet would be to be prepared to drift, starting in deep water .... and work your way shallow. In any case, I doubt you'll be the only boat in the bay :p ... so, watch & learn

Here are some rough directions-I'll try to get more precise later
Bluegrass Pky west to I-65 south. West KY pky west to I-24 west exit 25 (not sure if it's 25A or 25B). Anyway it's Purchase pky south to exit 47 (I think). Take hwy 68 east appr. 5 miles (turn left to go to Moors Resort-sorry I can't remember the road name) go 4-5 miles. Buckhorn Bay Park rd. will be on the right-it's easy to miss, but if you do the road will make a circle and bring you back.
Bump, still looking for any help available. Sorry not trying to be a pest, just trying to figure it out before I leave. Thanks ^^
edit: sorry browser didnt show new info until I posted this. Ill still take any possible suggestions you all can give me. Thanks again!
Hey Gary,
You can look at this. Good ramp and good courtesy dock.

I am in the same boat with my dad who has some leg issues. I am taking him to Irvin Cobb Marina on Blood River. It is a pretty easy dock to get in and out of. It is located in the Murrey area.
"You should have been here yesterday!!!
