Default Tried to fish today....still too much ice

I drove up and down the north end of Kentucky lake on the west side today and couldn't find a ramp to put in. Tried to put in off the bank on Jonathan creek off of the Harry Lee Waterfield Park ramp but the ice is still too thick. The only place I could find open was the end of the road that leads to Birmingham Camp Ground. The road ends into the main lake but the water wasn't deep enough for me to put in my boat. Some people were able to launch their john boats but you have to back way off into the water and chest waders and 4 wheel drive are a must to get the boat off of the trailer.
I guess I'm gonna have to fill a bucket up with water and fish in my front yard. I'm gonna go crazy without my crappie fix!

Default Like Ike ....you don't give up

Like your dedication my friend. Wonder if the ice will thaw by next weekend......the temp is projected in the 50's next week. Maybe by then
    a ramp will be useable.

I didn't check the east side. I ran out of time and had to come home. Even if you where able to get in the water, you would have to fish the main lake mostly. The biggest part of the bays are still froze.

    Cool Up & Down

The warm days will help but what we need is a quick rise to bust the ice up and then a quick drawdown to suck the ice out in the main lake and down to the dam.

I drove around LBL yesterday and all the bays down to smith are froze just like the west side. Hopefully it will stay warm and melt the ice over the weekend.
