Well, I got the kings treatment today. Met EZGO at the river this morning and we commenced to picking on a few sauger in the tailwater. I can't tell ya how good he was to me. His boat, his minnows, his spot, well, yall get the idea. Anyways, old jack frost was tryin to get us down but we tuffed it out, no fair weather guys here. For the tailwater it was kinda a slow bite for this time of year on the Ohio, but we hung with it and ended up with a great mess of really nice sized fish. We caught lots of small fish, but we only kept the grown folks that were mingling with the little cigars. Best part of the trip was the company for sure, cuz both of us had seen better days down there, but time flies when ur havin fun. We would pick up a nice fish here and there and just kept at it until the livewell started looking pretty good. I had a great day, cant speak for EZ cuz he had to put up with me and my motor mouth, but hes not too shy himself.:D I can assure ya we will be making more trips the the river and maybe I can get him over to Cave Run here soon and give him the kings treatment in my neck of the woods because I sure owe him one. Great day on the water. Thats the good thing about this site. I have been huntin for the past month, have motor issues and certainly am not on the up-and-up w/ the sauger right now, but he certainly showed me the ropes and we had only talked on this site before this mornin. And to top of his hospitality, he gave me the fish (and sauger aren't too bad eatin in my book..lol), and I had just cleaned out my crappie surplus last week for my b-day. Thanks for an great day of fishin and even better company. He didn't want a dime for anything. Geez, I wish my buddies were like this.....we fist fight over sauger!!! Here are a few of the better fish, think we took home around 15 nice ones (counting whiskers) so it made for a nice mess. Two of the sauger were nice 3 lb fish, the rest solid 15-18 inchers. Here is a pic of some of the catch.![]()

S.Cork, as cold as that minnow bucket was I could imagine what a dip in that water would be like in sub-freezing weather. Glad you got out ok at the falls, gotta mind your P's and Q's below the dams for sure![]()
Yea fishing was alright but once you got on a spot it was okay fish here fish there, But I would say to all from my exp from the dams some of the inside locks you can tie up and fish but if you dont have boat bumpers and magnets to stick on the steel of the wall it makes fishing a little harder with your stern pulling away from the wall and moving your bait off of the spot you want to be in, we put in at around 8:00 and left around 5:00 water was 49 degrees. Now I have to clean the boat on the way home I was going around some sharp curves and dumped the minnows in the boat and all of the blue bait saver is every where. I had to type this quick so excuse my periods and commas and spelling.
ekyslabber, great post and pic's, sounds like a great trip. I'll have to agree, sauger is one of the best eating fish there is. Glad you all had a good time on the water.
Slabber, fine mess of fish you guys caught. Congrats!!

nice catch
The fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad
