Im not sure why they look like that. The water here is actually clearer than KY lake so you would think they would use sight much more than feel here on the cave. Those fish came from the Licking river section of the lake so maybe those fish are accustomed to using their lateral lines when the river gets up n' muddy? Most of the actual river fish are white crappie (including all of those in the pic), but further downstream and into the main lake big black crappie make up a big portion of the population b/c of the milfoil and clear deep water. Good observation tho. I do notice that white crappie from the Ohio R and Ky Lake have more defined vertical bars than those I catch at the cave. At the same time though I think Cave Run black crappie are darker than KY lake black crappie....weird

Heres a pic of some Ohio R whites, and below are a Cave Run white and black, check the difference out, thats an interesting question ifish

BTW: those Ohio R. fish don't look that big in the pic, but grab a field and stream magazine and look at its page size, those fish are laying on top of a field and stream and drape over each end(if I remember right they were all around 15'' and robust), those River fish get thick like those KY Lake slabs, that pic is decieving
