I wonder if that's because Stren is now owned by Trilene ?? I may have to grab a spool and give it a try. Still have a large amount left of the Mr Crappie Super Hi-vis (old version) ... and don't plan on buying any of the "new" (chinese made) stuff ... so keep us informed as to how the Gold Plus works out, and holds up. My fishing partner still uses only Stren Gold 4# ... and it seems to work OK for him ... but, if this "Plus" stuff is better, it might be worth looking into.

Thanks for the report, and keep 'em coming

Actually that's not really the case. "Pure Fishing" owns Berkley, Mitchell, Spiderwire, Shakespeare, Abu Garcia, Fenwick, Stren, & Penn. So it's more accurate to say that Trilene (Berkley) and Stren are owned by the same company. Sorry about my misrepresentation.

Haven't seen Stren Plus but been using Stren Original in the 4# Hi-Vis Gold and love it. Strong, low memory, and sunlight dosen't seem to have much effect on it.

Sorry guys I have no clue why I called it plus...it's Stren Original Hi Viz gold. I've used it now on my third trip out and it still is good. The other I had to change out every trip due to bad memory.....So far it has completely won me over! Especially around twilight the line seems to get brighter!
