There is another way!
I often fish standing timber so developed a "tether line" to hold me in place. I use a nylon cord (1/8 - 3/16 thk. works well) with a series of floats similar to those used on sky lines, to float the whole thing. --- On the one end, I attached a "limb gripper" with a over sized snap swivel (can use a carabiner) with one "oversized float right there near the end. (this prevents loss if it should snap a limb off and fall in water!). Play out the line to adjust your position down wend and fish nearby trees. Using the sculling paddle, I can move the boat to several trees before reattaching the line elsewhere! I use the same process to hold along a shoreline, attaching to the outer limbs of a overhanging tree! The whole rig nests nicely into a 2-gal bucket, allowing some 25-30 feet in line and floats. ----- If you don't over do the attachment process, you can simply pull it free when at the end of line, then reattach elsewhere to float the next section downwind! If fishing was "hot" on a section, paddle back out and upwind, to float a second time!
