    Default Perry 6/26 Report*

Just a ho-hum report. Sneaked out for a few hours yesterday afternoon from 4-7:30. Fished piles in 15-19ft in Slough Creek, and the bite was tough. Employed double tandem jigs on tops of piles. Better bite came off of red/chart and purple/chart tubes. Only kept 5, released a dozen shorts and 5 white bass. I was content fishing in the light rain, but the lightning scared me off.

I got out for a couple of hours this morning before work (about 5am). The bite sure wasn't awesome, but it seemed a little better than what I saw last week - maybe it was the fog this morning helping things along? I was fishing off of the NE point at the end of Shelter Road, just past the launch ramp. Using a plain ol' 1/16 oz pink and chartreuse marabou about 18" under a slip bobber, slow reeling. Got quite a few bites, but only caught one 11" or so. I threw him back, since I wouldn't have time to clean him before work, but I was tempted to call in "sick" and keep trying my luck. lol

Thanks for a morning report. I wondered about the morning bite as well.

Went out again this morning - this time, I went to the Rock Creek public use area around the corner from the launch ramp (out on the big rocks just NW of the little loop road). Started well before sun-up (about 4am, I couldn't sleep so figured I'd fish -lol). Using the same rig as yesterday and had plenty of nibbles and bites, but not much caught. The wind picked up and started kicking my butt, so I retreated and figured I'd let my jig live to fight another day before I got snagged on big rocks and had to sacrifice him - LOL! I got two baby bass(maybe 6"), a baby crappie (8-9"), and a channel cat. I was really surprised that a channel cat went for a marabou, but even that small cat was hell on my lightweight rod and 6lb line.........

Caught a lot of cats on jigs. They get labeled as lazy but they are most definitely predators.

Went back out yesterday late afternoon. Same area as before but armed with minnows this time. Dinks were very cooperative on jigs. Better fish came off jig tipped with minnows. Ended up with 12. Tried night fishing and failed.

Thanks for the updates. I think my brother and I may try and hit Perry this weekend on the boat. I bank fished the spillway last weekend and got a bunch of smalls. I assume you are hitting them on the boat correct? I haven't really fished Perry but a couple of times, thanks.

Yes, I'm fishing from boat. I might be out there on Monday morning.
