    Default Clinton Crappie

Hey guys! I am hoping to gain a little knowledge as I am new to big lake fishing from a boat. I have fished from the bank for several years but this year had an opportunity to fish from a good boat with my uncle and cousin. During the spawn, we had no trouble finding fish mostly on the northern shore of Clinton. One night, we caught over 300 fish and limited out with many in the 12-13" range. However, last weekend, it seemed that many of the shallow fish were small males and the fish in 6-10 feet of water were much larger females. The females had eggs still and the eggs were firm which my cousin said that means the spawn is not over. Should I expect to start searching deeper waters or do you guys think the spawn is still on?

Thanks for the update on the Clinton crappie. I missed fishing Clinton last weekend because I totaled out my service van last Friday and had to get another van and spent all weekend getting it set up for work by Tuesday.

Do you think a bank fisherman could still do pretty good on Clinton? I don't have a boat here in KS, it is at our lake house on Table Rock but do you think we could still catch some fish this weekend? I usually fish the state park and just do bobber/minnow 10 ft off the bank. I haven't been going because I thought the spawn was pretty much over.

I'm going out Saturday morning at the Dam. Hear the Wipers are hitting top water pretty well. Not sure I'll pitch topwater though, probably something Slabs will hit also as that's my passion like everyone here :D
