    Default Glen Elder

I am looking to make it down to glen Elder for the first time ever. Wondering if any could give some advice on where to stay . Also never have fished the lake before, so was wondering where on the lake would be a good place to try for crappie. Thanks

The Fin & Feather in Glen Elder is a modular home you can rent if you have more than a couple people going. We generally stay at The West Lake Inn in Downs. Its like ~$50 for a double room that has a microwave, mini fridge and electrical hookups outside. Its about a 5-10min drive to the state park, but for the money, its a nice place to stay.

As for fishing...we were there a couple weeks ago and water temps were 52-55ish, and the fish were scattered all over the place. KDWP has a list of all the brush piles they have put in the lake on their website, look them up and try them. Don't be afraid to try the river channel edges either, we've caught a lot of nice crappie this time of year when we were walleye fishing. Also check along the causeway. Crappie fishing is on a down slide at Glen after the last couple years of pounding it has taken. The fish you do catch will be quality, but the quantity just isn't there. New creel limit of 20 is in place, fyi.

I prefer to stay in the Cabins on the state park but they are mostly free on weekdays cause are booked out in advance. KDWP is the website for reservations.
