Hit Coffey County this morning. Had a cousin with me that had never lake fished and never been in a decent boat. Started fishing rip rap for smallmouth. Never caught one, but caught a 5-6 lb wiper and lost 2 more. I need to get a landing net. All of those were caught on a small crankbait resembling a crawfish. I marked loads of baitfish, and even several big schools of game fish in areas 20-26 fow. Pulled the usually 13" crappie out of 24' of water. Even though I marked loads of fish, that was all we caught. Finished off trying to flip the deeper timber with no bites. A few folks catching a few fish, but it sounds like we may have done better than some folks out there.
