    Default lakes around wichita

hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and was wondering if anybody had any info on the crappie action on the lakes close to wichita. like eldorado, cheney, marion. i had someone tell me that the ice at marion res. was almost two foot thick.i just want to know where i can go get me some slabs without a boat and having to drive across the state. thanks

Welcome bassnpro. Not the greatest area but some if you time it right. Eldorado has good size but boat helps, chenney is good at times off dam. Lake afton has land bassed fishing but have not tried it yet. Keeping watching site and info is shared. Including empty seats on short notice to join someone.

Other short drives from Wichita would be Harvey Co East or Hargis Creek. Have no idea if they had good ice a week or two ago. Both lakes can be good during the spawn if you hit it right.

Hargis Creek is just northeast of Wellington, i believe it's about 60 acres.
