    nothing fancy but very effective and easy to make (cheep)

    start with .73mm (22 gauge) galvanized steel wire. almost any hardware store has it. about $5.00 for 100 feet

    cut a length off and twist one end around something the size you want the hole to be. I use a marker because it slides off easy.

    bend at 90 degrees and you are done.

    size of hole is personnel preference. for me I go small so the jig doesn't slide thru it so easy when reel it up.

    I always paint the end with a fluorescent paint so I can see It better.

    They easiest way to attach it I have found is electrical tape. easy to remove if you want it off.

    the trick for me is to start the tape on just part of the wire first(a wrap or 2) then lay it on the pole tip and tape it down.

    I usually leave about 2.5 inches past the end eye.

    I have a couple ordered, and should be here any day now. I have everything it takes to make some like you posted. I may rig another rod with one that I try to make. Thanks for the pic and instructions.

    sounds like a lot of ice about anywhere bombthreat. Headed to pamona for Saturday. may stick around and go watch my son play some college table tennis at KU on sunday. Might hit a few docks on the way home also.
