Here's a thought, how many West of Topeka post anything on this board? Why is that? There's quite a few reasons, but they're all tied together by a common thread. Us western guys would put up reports and the multitudes show up and "rape" our resources. Then, in a selfish gesture exclaim for lower creels, like the very reason they came can be lengthened. Well guess what, hows that working out for you guys on Perry? Hillsdale? In all honesty, any of the eastern lakes? You've come our way for big fish, not the crackers from your home lakes, and fish get big at the end of the cycle, period. Eastern lakes have proven my point, time and time again. Sure, it's gonna work great at Glen while the waters dropping, as it cycles, which it's done since it's inception. However, this last cycle, which was a generous one at that wasn't it, will never happen again. The lake will become inundated and fish just like Perry from that time and after. LORD knows I hope I'm wrong, but that's a false hope. One last note, those local guys who've been seen plundering Glen, Webster, Kirwin and such, they don't travel to the eastern lakes, and they sure don't impose sanctions on your fishing, they leave that for y'all.

Interesting to read your post and point of view, thanks for sharing you have some true concerns and passions that we all share. You do know my family and myself are from Glasco KS originally right? So I don't know where you get the mine/yours... but at no point did I really think of it in those terms personally which is something you forget about when you move. Being from Central Kansas my whole life I just wish people would understand it's our state, not my part and your part. That being said, at Hilldale and Melvernt he lower limits have a great success for those lakes and increased the size of fish and quality of fishing! Now the lakes you speak of do have some different pressures which factor heavily on the fish population. HD and Melvern have more boats on them in one day that Glen does on a windy week but Glen has 10x the number of preditor fish than HD does. How does that factor in, I personally hope it was the biologist who requested the limits. I am not sure where you get that fact that I am for or against it but no worries. I don't have a dog in this fight.

One items that really makes me wonder is how KDWP"T" has been pimping KS out to the highest outfitter, what affect will only having a 20 fish limit do to out of staters. Will the Nebraska guys spend as much time in KS filling their freezer and spend less money in those towns? Lots of affects by this other than just the fish. Now back to the important question, you want to get out and chase some roosters when I head back to the our land in Lindsburg?

Are we back to your lake, my lake? The last time I checked, all waters are open to fisherman who purchase a licenses. The Biologist are the ones who make the changes and rules on the water. They don't do it to make you mad, they do it for a reason. As a fisherman and a guide, I think 50 fish per person is way to much! 20 fish per day is GREAT! We have a 50 fish here and I would never consider keeping that many. 20 fish is a lot.. I love the new regs on walleye here as we have seen a huge improvement on their size in a few years. I don't know why people hate change but we are all human...

I have a lot of respect for Scott Waters, the Biologist up at the Glen. I would think that if he thought this move to be detrimental to the quality of fishing he would not let this happen. I know he posts on here from time to time. Maybe he will chime in. I know cleaning 20 fish is enough fish cleaning for me! LOL

Sorry Nick, it wasn't my intentions. I can only point out that my posts since becoming a member are true, I've already lived the "data". Flood impoundment crappies are cyclic, how do we change His Grace, why? I've seen this happen over and over in my 35yrs of fishing Glen, when the cycles are broken Perry is what you get.

That's hilarious Chatt, now from my armchair this is what I've seen. There is YET to be anyone I've fished with from back East stop at 20, not a single one. This not an attack on anybody, it would be no different than sitting in a meeting to express my point. Twist it, brother, make it work for you. I DO KNOW WHAT PERSONAL ATTACKS ARE!!

Well I am going to chime in here, first of all there some things that haven't been brought forward here. First of all this lake is not like your corps lakes, eastern kansas lake. There is something freaky from a biological perspective here- nutrients, plankton whatever, these growth rates are outstanding up to 5 inches per year out here. With several years in a row of good classess 2006-2008 combined with a oustanding growth rate- equals many large fish and that's what we had. If the growth rates stay the same you won't have to worry about turning this into a dinkville. However this what is going on now , 2010 year crappie spawn and retention was a bust. Scott Waters can tell YOU if you ask more about what they are seeing. With all those big fish in the lake spawning was not excellent as you would expect. So the dink argument is not gonna hold water here. As a local angler here I have grown tired of the abuses that we have seen, people not even cleaning their entire creel and throwing them away and on and on>>> I myself have got tired of being riduculed for throwing fish back when I know I have plenty. The lake will be fine-it's the so called "sportsmen" we need to be worried about.
