    Default First Trip to Clinton

Made my first trip to Clinton this weekend and all I can really say is man, there is a lot of timber in that lake!!! My wife and I arrived Thursday evening and stayed in campground 3. Nice campground, nice shower house etc.... Camping spot was excellent and I even got my fat butt out and walked some trails with the wife............brownie points! Lake was busy as was expected. Got to meet up with my buddy Ron on Friday and he went out with us for a bit and sure enough, put us on brush pile that produced some crappie. Thanks Ron!! Saturday we didn't go out at all with the weather being a bit on the uncooperative side. Up early Sunday to try and beat the recreational boaters. Only managed 5 keeper crappie, a 3 pound channel, a drum, and a small wiper. Ran into Chatt on the north shore in some timber.........of course he already had a limit!! Could not establish much of a pattern, caught few in timber and stumps west of boat ramp and caught a few in brush piles on north shore. Up early this morning and fished for few hours with not much luck. Put the poles away and took a tour of the lake.......wife was tired of fishing She was a trooper though getting up early on Sunday and Monday. Although we didn't catch many fish, we had a very enjoyable time. Pretty lake, with nice facilities and did I mention......lots of timber!!! Will be sure to back sometime.

Glad you all had an enjoyable time at Clinton, I was planning to make it up there on friday but wussed out cause of wind and early rain showers ( ChumLee was planning on coming too but he wussed out before me ) I hope we can all get together and fish again some time, I really enjoyed meeting you at crappie camp...good luck

Sounds like you made a good weekend trip to Clinton. Maybe next time we'll meet up and catch some slabs.
I stayed out Friday night, although with the weather and wind I stayed in my slip at the marina. Had to leave Saturday around 3, but came back out Sunday by 10 with a lady friend to troll for whites. The boat traffic was too crazy to try fishing piles with all the wakes from ski boats. Resorted to cat fishing in the marina cove with 6 good cats and 1, lucky for her, walleye on a worm.
Ended up the holiday weekend working Monday. I'LL BE BACK.

Yeah Capt., I stopped by the Marina on Saturday morning but your boat was gone so I figured you were out battling the wind! Have to hook up next time!

Going to be at the Glen on Friday if the weather cooperates, my brother is coming in from Phoenix. Calling for a north wind of 15 and 40 percent chance of showers. Might be stuck on Campground 3 pile or back up in Osage with that wind. Hope the crappie are there! Maybe will run into you!

We are not staying, the Glen is just a little over an hour for us plus we are headed to Manhattan on Saturday for the ball game. If we were staying we would stay at M and M!!! How long does it take to get to Webster from the Glen?

Less than a hour. Stay on 24 West. It's very low but ramps OK. <*)}}}><
