When the lake is at pool it's on a couple ft max out there and some places 6" ...it's not easy getting to the river from the main lake when the lake is at normal pool....it's all silted in...no idling back there....gotta keep her up on plane and pray!!!! I tried this summer with mixed results....not fun getting out to push!!!

That's right! Surrounded they were, easy pickens. Ain't much of a way in, even if the lake is at conservation. I told you Dan, aluminum boat, families got land up river. And by the way, we do drive around and LOOK, we're from outta town, nobody even pays use dumb flatlanders any difference. Honestly, I think I've fished Clinton just as many times as Glen this year. We used to think we were up Deer Creek for years, and I learned differently this spring. Take off dipping the Rock also, they're just all cornered. Did the same at Marion about a month ago, the river didn't touch the lake there either. I plan on fishing Clinton around Thanksgiving again, hard to get me over to DD unless it's for walleye.

Watch out for the Wakarusa River boat ramp parking lot. I know of two people( this includes myself) who have got their truck window busted or shoot out this year.

Doc, you sure seem to know everything there is to know about every lake in Kansas. My goodness. I can barely make it to my local reservoir a few times a month. Oh well, thanks for the report.

Interesting!! I don't know how many guys fish that lake from this KS board, but for the number of locals Glen and HD get the majority of the posts. Clintons a gold mine, I only fished it about 10 times. I fish plenty of lakes, get bored, then try another. Is my info invalid, I don't think so. Besides, I use only 1 name on this board. I've fished with some real geniouses and some wannabe's. I'll tell ya this-- the best lessons I ever received were from a man named Jim Bybee. That man can catch fish out of a 5 gallon bucket, and another doing it. A true teacher wants their pupils to surpass them, it makes them proud.

Thanks for the info, Nate. I launched there several times this spring with no problems. It's going to make me a little weary of launching there from now on. Did you have these problems during the day?
