First day of winter. To catch crappie find brush pile 20 to 25 FOW. Drop a jig of some kind down in it then pull out a fish. That simple and that good. We kept 20 fish but caught more. My fishing partners grandson out fished both of us. That is good he is a great kid. The smile is the best.![]()

Sounds like you all had a great day and looks like a future crappie fisher in the making... good memories. I sure wish I lived as close as you to Melvern and that it was my home lake instead of Hillsdale... I guess I'll have to move!!
FAITH, FAMILY, FRIENDS & FISHING...... hopefully in that order but honestly, not always!
Good day, great smile, those are special days.
WTG . . . Young man catchn em, first day of winter, the days getn longer, open water, couldnt be better
Tried to go today, got to the ramp and did my routine getting the boat ready, backed it in until I seen it float, I always get as close to the dock as I can so can step into the boat, walked out on the dock and the boat and trailer were 10 feet from the dock at a 45 degree angle from the truck, no it was still hooked to the truck, I thought what the heck, I backed better that that. So pulled it up the ramp straighten up and backed in again til it was floating, watched in the mirror, low and behold the boat and trailer were both drifting to the south, HUH boat is froze down to the bunks and the water at 34 degrees wasn't warm enough to break it loose. I have heard of that happening, but never experienced it myself.
Oh well it was only a mile to the ramp so was not a real waste of time or gas...
Merry Christmas to everyone....And a Happy New Year

Looks like a great day of fishing..
We had our trailer freeze to the boat last week. It took 10 minutes of soaking in the water till it broke lose.
