Tomkat, I have just been seeing the birds you mentioned from JEC. I bowhunted south of Jeffrey on Sunday night and the birds are still in, although not as many as there were a couple weeks ago. I barely saw or heard any canada geese and I also heard a lot of shooting coming from the surrounding area. I think the word got out and they have been getting hunted quite a bit. I would guess I saw only about 1/3 of the birds I was seeing a couple weeks ago.

My waterfowl count for the year is.... drumroll.... zero. My duck dog is old and arthritic so I needed to find a slam-dunk kind of hunt for him and I never made it happen. Hopefully before the season runs out...

Well if you feel like going on something more challenging, I have a 10 month old lab that is full of P & V, if you take my meaning. I have done a decent job with her, for an amauter trainer. She does mind, and she does retrieve to hand.

All bets are off now that water is frozen.
