No it certainly does not. It is just sad to see the lack of common sense being thrown around about issues like this. Folks should educate themselves before making ignorant statements and as a result causing other folks to repeat the same inaccuracies.

Well it certainly does when you call my statement ignorant. The reservoirs seem to be more about banking water for barge traffic on the big rivers in times of drought than they are for flood control.

Just keep drinking that cool aid buddy.

    Ditto......
I am done talking to people that are not willing to take the time to educate themselves and understand the bigger picture. Have fun! I am out!

Your statement is entirely correct. As a matter of fact the COE is being sued for causing flooding issues. It is easy to find in the news. Private companies also have a huge lobby in the barge traffic business and historically have dictated water levels that flow from us and other States into the Missouri and Mississippi rivers. There was no flooding concerns last fall and the barges had plenty of water so instead of the annual drawdown for fall and winter our lakes were held higher than in normal years for no reason. In fairness, they probably couldn't have drawn them down to the levels needed for the current wet season.
