Melvern 7/26
Hit Melvern for night fishing 7/26 into 7/27. Got treated to a pretty nice firework show soon after arrival. Initially started throwing a rattle trap to some of the steep rocky banks east of Sundance. When that didn't work I started trolling down them with Walleye Runners to no avail. Shifted to the flats outside of Eisenhower and tried drifting for walleye. Never got a bite. Ran clear to the dam and threw a rattle trap and grub tipped with worm for an hour without a bite. Finished the night trolling down the dam. Finally caught a 3 lb white bass, then soon thereafter got broke off by something much larger. The night was pitch black which made navigation interesting. Also there was a mayfly hatch which makes me wonder if it affected the fishing. When the wind died it was a beautiful night, just not many fish caught. Starting to get pretty frustrated with Melvern.

Sounds much the same as my night last night. Fished a lot of water, round 1030pm brought something big up 10 yards to the boat and hook poped out on the surface. Never saw it never hooked another one. Probably a big cat of some kind. Fished L.C., 90' at midlake, 86' on the north end, couldn't put decent shad in the net. Fished 7 to 27 fow, running magtraps, and white bombers. Rocks, gravel, flats, bridge area, really sucked. Gave up around midnight. Rain had passed thru, wind hadnt shifted yet. Figure the front shut um down hard where I was floating at. Did see some fairly substained WB surface action before sunset appeared to be chaseing real small shad.

I found this last night. At some point would you expect to see crappie around it

6 foot single tree on a mud bottom. Maybe, depends on the things around there. Deep water or shallow water close, or if it sitting on the outside edge of a channel bend may be a spot.
Saw a lot better evening bite tonight. Little north cove on hD had steady intermitant WB top action starting around 6pm. Fish were in a 80 yard area betwees some timber and a sloping mud bank. Hitting on top in 3 to 5 fow.
