    Default Trout

Just about time for some of the lakes to start opening up for trout fishing, but it doesn't look like any of them are going to have soft water by the end of this week, certainly not thick enough to ice fish Last year was my first year at Lake Shawnee chasing those monster trout and I'll be headed back there for sure. Does anyone know do they just push back the opening date if the lake is frozen or do they open it anyways and people just fish at their own risk? I know Wyandotte Lake pushes back the opening until the lake is open but can't find anything on Shawnee doing that.

It will open on the open date. There are a few open water areas to fish as of now.

Boy has me talked into doing the March 1st opener at Roaring River. I like trout, but opening day down there, oh boy.

So even if it freezes back over (like it probably will looking at the extended forecast), they'll still open it? I just want to make sure so I don't drive out there and find out the lake is still closed to fishing.
