    Default Scary Stuff

Not sure if any one has seen this video or not, but I ran across this yesterday. Absolutely amazing shot. I can't even imagine what must have been going through his mind. Definitely an eye opener if you are ever caught on a lake during a lightning storm.

Just don't know what to say, except maybe, be careful. In '94 I was struck by lightning, got the ole "red fern" to prove it also. Plain and simple, I just walked away A couple days later, I watched my lead smoke in front of me, and the next day after that, a friend was also electrocuted. Needless to say, I don't play, with electricity. Even after my brief description, I still had to have another go to really learn, but I'm a keeping that story, at least for now

    That's crazy.
Closest I've every came to anything like that on a lake was several years ago on Table Rock. It was just drizzling and no lightning around, but when I would raise my rod tip to drag my grub along the bottom, you could feel the static build in my rod and start to hear it buzz. Drop the rod tip and it would stop, raise the rod and it started again. Told my dad, he just felt is also, and we headed into the dock. Close enough for me...

Do people look at you like you're crazy when you tell that story? Because I truly believe you!! That's so similar to my keeper story it's scary. I was at Glen, shortly after they had cleared all the trees after the flood and made the biginning brushpiles, so the shorelines were bare and we, myself and kids, were the tallest things around the beach. My fingers touching the graphite partof my rod would spark. It really hurt even. Then I turned around to look at my kids and every single hair on theirs heads were sticking up. We gone. But I do believe you, Tim, it's just some weird stuff.

The same thing happened to me a few years back at Milford. There was a small storm cell a good distance off to the south of the lake. I went to pick up my rod and it would spark everywhere I touched it. It was sparking good. I tried to get my brother and dad to try it and see if it would spark on them also but they wouldn't touch it. I couldn't get it reelled in it was sparking so bad. I threw it in a rod holder and headed north as fast as the boat would go. It is a scary feeling for sure.
