    Default Good weekend at milford.

It was our anniversary Fri. and the wife wanted to go see our daughter in Manhattan. (K State 3rd yr.) So i said ok as long as we hit the lake since it has been so long. Left Fri. am about 9 am for the 2 hr drive. Stopped at the halfway point to fuel up and look everything over. Back on the road. Beautiful day just a little windy. Got to the lake right around 11 and got out to load/unstrap the boat. Fever running high I tell you. Get to the side of the boat and found 1 tire had separated and lost the tread apparently taking the bearing buddy off the rear axle in the process. Bearings shot, axle not looking the best. So I say we'll launch the boat and take some weight off the trailer to make our repairs. Unstrap, back down the ramp, Hit the starter and nothing. Nada Zip Zilch. Power to all guages nothing at starter. Ok Temp really starting to rise at this point. And not the fever I was feeling just a few minutes before. Choice words starting to flow. Had started the boat in our driveway before we left and had charged the battery all night the nite before. In neutral, (check 10 or 12 times just to be sure).Lanyard in? Yup. Pull my handy dandy little test lite out and the switch had a short. Great. Trip to town to support the local economy. Thank you JJ Marine. (very helpful) Wal Mart and O Rielly's. Back to the lake and put everything back together and hit the water aroud 5:30 or so. Just in time to hit some topwater wipers going at it. Spent the rest of the weekend just as we had planned and enloyed every minute of it. Hit School Creek most of the day Sat. for a mixed bag nothin great but alot of fun. Got to learn alot about my Elie 5 DSI since this is only the second time I've had it on the water. Really love the thing but will have to get mapping for it. All in all worth every penny. Made it home with no further problems and had a great weekend. Took a couple of pics but haven't got them off my phone yet. Long story I know but it truly was a great weekend. PS The wiper bite is really strong. Git em while the gittin is good.

Good to hear the fish were cooperating for you after your rough start.
Everyone has those trips from time to time.

Always good share those kinds of stories to make those of us who also have those kinds of experiences know we aren't alone!
