how to hook live shad?

Just wondering if anyone give me some feedback on how to hook live shad to increase my hook up percentage. Thanks

I hook them through the eyes. Have had good success in the past fishing for wipers this way.

I hook them either by putting hook point into mouth and then out the top of mouth thru the head so as not to pin the mouth shut or I go sideways thru the nostrils or whatever those holes are lol.

I go through the back just make sure you are above the spine or you kill them.
