I usually like to take my kid with me trolling ....get to spend time with him plus.....lots of lines out. I have each rod set up slightly different for depth, action, and color. Usually I do a wide progressive spread with depth controlled by line fed out and speed when pulling the same series of Crank bait or long lining jigs. I use line counter reels on 12f, 10f, and 8f rods pulling Bandit 200-300, wiggle warts, Rebel Crank -R....different colors (almost always start with black, pink, orange, white, tiger fire, and blue green. I also put a 3/32 jig trailer on each. I like to zig zag across channels, drops, ledges, flats, and coves.

This allows me a good search of an area. Then i take note of what, where, depth, color, speed. I use the main motor but zig zagging allows for lots of different speed variables as if I pick them up on the inside lines or the outside lines during turns i then know to speed up or slow down...... on calmer days I like long lining them also with 12-14f B-n-M rods pulling jigs. Then there is my "strolling" addiction that I do a lot in the shallower water or around structures.......but this is just me.

You never know what you will catch when doing all of this....bass, catfish, whites, wipers, walleyes, and sometimes Crappie....woo hoo
