    Default My Glen Trip

Got up and hammered down out to the Glen....about 95 miles for me. The night before I printed out all the GPS grids for the fish attractors so I would have them, The trip is about 95 miles for me so not too bad. Got there to the state park and the parking lot was looking pretty full with Nebraska and even Colorado plates. Thought, well this must be a good place to fish. I called the store across from the state park the day before and asked about fishing and she said "we are very busy", which is code for lots of fisherman but few fishes... No worries I went anyway as i have never fished the lake but been there a couple of times mainly to the Lund Dealer.

I drove over to Cawker City and put in at the Boller Point ramp. let me tell you about the ramp....you can launch with no trouble but when you go to recover the ramp is steep and the boat floats above the trailer so getting it winched back up is a little tricky......I will use the osage one next time.

So I hit every brush pile from there to osage and no joy. I fished around the bridge for a while and saw lots of fish on the locator and saw a guy catch a really nice crappie......on minnows. I fished a lot the covers all the way to about 2ft deep and nothing. I was using jigs and such. I pulled up on the Campground #3 and there was 1/2 dozen boats around it. Jigged around for a while and a couple of guys started talking to me so I anchored up to talk to these two guys and eat lunch more than fish. They were catching fish....not fast but steady.....using minnows. Talked for about for a good while and learned alot about the lake and what not. The sun was beating on me and it didn't help my already burnt arms and face from the previous 2 days fishing on Milford. I stayed till about 1800 and was just beat.....

Headed home, tired, burnt, thirsty, but did stop in Beloit to get me a big Chocolate dipped cone....yum. Even though i did not catch anything the guys i met made the trip worth while and i am glad I went.

I am ordering a shade top for my Lund.........and i am still not going to buy minnows...

Glad you had a good trip. some guys are just so stuborn about not using minnows.

If it works why not.. If someone was using a certain color you would change to it.

I dont mean to open up a can of worms on this subject.

thanks for the report, and keep up the safe journeys.

It's OK to open up a can of worms. It's minnows he doesn't want to use. lol. Glad you got to make the trip. Better luck next time. At least you didn't get blown of the water.

Dave, I was wondering how your trip went. You might want to reconsider on those minnows!! That pile at Campground 3 is pretty good sized, and I saw them adding even more trees to it early this spring.
