Zummy, do you live in Hartford? I have alot of great memories in the mid 80's and early 90's quail hunting around that area. Is the quail population looking any better? How about the cafe and bar across the street in town?

Cafe is closed. Bar is closed. Quail population is in the crapper. My GSP died in 2010, and my Brittany followed him in early 2011. Quail population is down far enough, and land leases are becoming so I never replaced them.

Took the daughter out with me after work. I was pretty sure she thought morels were like unicorns since we hadn't been finding any. However on the way back to the truck we found 1. She was pretty proud of it. Hope to find some more later this week.

My son and I did a little urban hunting this evening. He's a newbie and wouldn't you know right out the door, up the ditch and 3 yellows about 3" tall where right there. Enjoyed the venture with him and now he's learning about morels and pepperoni pizza. We ended up with about the same numbers, 35. Bye BAM!!

Well my daughter wanted to go mushroom hunting. So off we went. 3 month old strapped on my chest and daughter walking. Then she decides she wants Dad to carry her. So I have her riding on my shoulders. Didn't find any mushrooms (hard to look with a talkative 2.5 yr old having a death grip on your chin) and Daddy is wore out.

Better get out now. Took the daughter out for an hour this AM. we found 12 and a turkey feather so her day was made. My cousins have been picking them up by the sackful. They are dropping some off to supplement our meager finds. I know I could find a lot more leaving the daughter at home, but I would rather find 12 with her along than a bucketful with her sitting at home watching TV.
