The Speed of a Rhino The Power of a Gazelle
Chatt,
I have a 17.5 foot Grady White, which looks to be similar to the boat you are thinking about. My Grady is pretty heavy- the empty hull ( no motor or gas) weighs 1500 lbs. it has pretty high freeboard, so I never worry about anything on the local lakes. I have fished mine in the Gulf a fair bit, and on a good day I don't mind fishing 10-15 miles off shore. In fact, I have been out as far as 20 miles off Ft. Morgan, Alabama. That being said, it is not the greatest boat for crappie fishing or fishing some of the lakes around here. The hefty freeboard that makes it a good bay boat also makes it hard to hold a good position on the local lakes when it is windy. On the other hand, it is a great all around boat- bay, near shore in the ocean, and larger lakes.
